Compare the 1800, 2800, 3800, 4800 and 5800 before discussing your custom build. This is a reference for the original, unmodified cases, not a list of ready-made BoomCustoms models.

Protective shell

The listings specify polypropylene construction and an IP65 factory rating; the 1800 through 4800 specifications additionally name rubber seals. (1800, 2800, 3800, 4800, 5800)

Factory storage features

All five listings include pick-and-pull foam, easy-open latches, an adjustable pressure-relief valve and provisions for two padlocks, with locks not included. (1800, 2800, 3800, 4800, 5800) These describe the original cases, not a finished boom box's internal layout.

The rolling option

The Harbor Freight 5800 listing identifies it as a rolling carry-on case. For a custom build, compare all three measurements instead of choosing by model number alone.

Factory case rating ≠ finished-build rating. The ratings above describe the original, unmodified cases. Do not assume they carry over after speaker and control cutouts. Finished BoomCustoms builds are water-resistant, not waterproof; do not submerge them.

3800 measurement note: Harbor Freight's 3800 specifications table and overview give the interior measurements used here, but the same page's Product Features section lists 14-15/16 × 10-9/16 × 6-11/16 inches. Verify the physical case before planning a tight-fitting layout.

Plan the build, not just the box. Dimensions are approximate and subject to change. Shell shape, speaker mounting depth, battery, amplifier and wiring all affect usable space. This guide does not guarantee component fit, inventory or a specific finished-build price; case choice, colors and final layout are confirmed during your inquiry.

Keep It Sounding Great

Water-Resistant, Not Waterproof

Our builds handle splashes, poolside spray, and light rain. They are not waterproof, so please don't submerge them or leave them out in heavy rain.

Protect Your 3D-Printed Graphics

Custom graphics and grills are 3D-printed and can warp in extreme heat. To keep them crisp, avoid leaving your boom box in a hot car or in direct summer sun for long periods.

3D-Printed Details

Our custom graphics and decorative pieces are 3D-printed plastic models. Minor cosmetic imperfections; such as visible layer lines or slight variations in surface finish; are a normal part of the printing process.

Battery Care

Recharge with the built-in charger after use and store in a cool, dry place.
